The journal was founded by academician V.M. Bekhterev in 1896. Since 1927 the journal was given his name. After the death of V.M. Bekhterevjournal was not published until 1990, when, by decision of the USSR State Committee for Press its publication was resumed.Today the journal publishes review, problematic and original articles, the results of basic research, a description of clinical observations, lectures on a wide range of issues of psychiatry, medical psychology, psychotherapy, as well as the results of clinical and experimental studies. Today the journal is also included in the Supreme Attestation Commission List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals.
