For 40 years, he has been in charge of the department of borderline psychiatry, which he created, at the National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology named after V.P. Serbsky of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

48 doctoral and candidate dissertations were prepared by him supervision.

Author of more than 500 scientific, educational and educational publications, in which the concept of an individual barrier of mental adaptation is developed, which has become a theoretical basis for studying the pathogenesis of the state of mental maladaptation, the mechanisms of development and diagnostic approaches to borderline states are clarified, a group of social stress disorders was described for the first time, the principles of complex treatment of patients with neurotic and psychosomatic disorders were developed.
