Professor N.G. Neznanov (born in 1954) - director of V.M. Bekhterev National research medical center for psychiatry and neurology and head of the Department of psychiatry and narcology of Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University. He is the main non-staff expert psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health, the president of the Russian society of psychiatrists and president of World Association for Dynamic Psychiatry (WADP), which unites psychiatrists from 52 countries.
Professor N. G. Neznanov is one of the leading scientists in psychiatry. His scientific activity is devoted to the study of the most relevant issues of modern clinical and biological psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine. He made a significant contribution to biopsychosocial approach in the investigation of mental and psychosomatic disorders. It has been recognized in our country and abroad.
N. G. Neznanov - the author of more than 450 scientific papers, some of which are published in leading Russian and foreign journals (J. Mental Health, Dynamic Psychiatry, International Clinical Psychopharmacology, J. Nature Medicine, J. Neuroscience and Behavioral Psychology, J. Europ. Child and Adiol. Psych., J. Clin. Psychopharm). He has published 18 monographs, 7 manuals on psychiatry and psychotherapy, a textbook on psychiatry and narcology for students. Two monographs were published in English – "Essays on Dynamic Psychology: a transcultural study" (2008) and "Dynamic psychiatry of G. Ammon. Identity through the group" (2018).
He was awarded the diploma ofRussianAcademyof Science for the best scientific work in the field of neurology and psychiatry (for his monograph "Therapeutically resistant depression") in 2013. The Presidium of RAS awarded him V. M. Bekhterev Gold medal for series of works on psychophysiology of mental disorders in 2017.
Nikolai Grigorievich Neznanov is one of the leading Russian scientists in the field of research of mental disorders in patients with somatic diseases. The results of this study performed at a high level were published in leading national journals, foreign scientific and medical periodicals and were presented at influential scientific forums. Professor N. D. Neznanov made a significant contribution to the development of science and created a scientific and clinical school, a distinctive feature of which is a holistic approach to solving urgent scientific-practical tasks.
There were 23 doctoral and 21 PhD theses defended under the scientific advice of Professor N. D. Neznanov. To recognize his achievements in the field of science he was awarded the title of "Honored worker of science of theRussian Federation."
N.G. Neznanov has the government awards. He is the President of the Russian society of psychiatrists (from 2010 to the present time). Professor Neznanov was appointed Director of the WHO’ collaborating center for research and training in mental health in 2012.
Professor N. D. Neznanov is a member of the editorial boards of 14 Russian and two foreign magazines, also he is a member of several international societies: WPA, EPA, ECNP, WFABP.
